New Delhi: As people across the nation prepared to celebrate New Year’s Eve 2026, President Droupadi Murmu extended New Year greetings to citizens in India and abroad, calling the occasion a symbol of renewed energy, positive change and fresh beginnings.
In her message issued on New Year’s Eve 2026, President Murmu said the upcoming new year offers an opportunity for self-reflection and new resolutions. She also urged Indians to strengthen their commitment to national development, social harmony and environmental protection.
“May the year 2026 bring peace, happiness and prosperity into our lives and infuse new energy to build a stronger and more prosperous India,” she said.
Also on New Year’s Eve, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla conveyed his warm wishes to the people of India. The senior political leader asserted that the New Year is not just a change of date but a moment for renewed resolve and constructive transformation.
“On the advent of the New Year 2026, I convey my heartfelt greetings and best wishes to all. May the coming year usher in new dreams, renewed enthusiasm, fresh possibilities, and abundant happiness in everyone's life,” Birla said in his message.
The Lok Sabha Speaker also urged the citizens of India to strive for personal growth and make meaningful contributions towards nation building. He also emphasised the virtues of self-reliance and called upon people to adopt and promote indigenous products, describing Swadeshi as a strong and essential pillar of a strong and self-reliant India.
He also urged people to study the Constitution and uphold its ideals of justice, equality, liberty, rights and duties in daily life.
“Let us all become active partners in the development of our nation and our states. Through our actions, thoughts, and behaviour, let us endeavour to bring about constructive, lasting change,” Birla said.
The Lok Saha Speaker went on to add that collective determination, discipline and dedication are the qualities that would help make 2026 a landmark year for both individuals and the nation.
“May the New Year bless everyone with good health, peace, prosperity, and success,” he said.
