Chennai: Amid the LPG shortage caused by the war in the Middle East, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday appealed to the people not to panic and assured them that their interests would be protected. Addressing an NDA meeting in poll-bound Tamil Nadu, he criticized the ruling DMK for alleged corruption, dynastic politics, and broken promises.

According to news agency PTI, the PM expressed confidence in addressing the LPG crisis, where the shortage of commercial LPG has severely affected the country's hotel sector. Referring to the LPG crisis, he said, "I would like to appeal to the people to spread only correct, verified information."

He said that the war has impacted the global energy supply chain. He said, "Today, I would like to talk to the people of Tamil Nadu about the ongoing conflict in West Asia. It has impacted the global energy supply chain. We believe in the India First philosophy. There is no need to panic or pay attention to rumors. In any situation, we have seen that our government always puts India's interests first."

He said, "During the COVID pandemic, 1.4 billion Indians showed the world how mature our country is. I am confident that as a nation, we will successfully handle every situation."

The PM's comments came following the shortage of commercial LPG and the opposition's criticism on this issue.

Addressing a mega rally attended by all NDA constituents, PM Modi criticized the DMK regime in Tamil Nadu and said that people want a government that works for every family, not just one. Earlier, Modi inaugurated projects worth ₹5,650 crore and said that these projects would create thousands of jobs for the state's youth.

Intensifying his attack on the DMK, PM Modi said that under the DMK's rule, everything begins and ends with one family. In 2021, the people of Tamil Nadu brought the DMK to power, and instead of accepting its responsibility, they betrayed the mandate. People know that the NDA can bring change in Tamil Nadu.
