New Delhi: After the historic victory of BJP in Bengal elections, the attitude of the opposition is becoming increasingly sharp. First Mamata Banerjee raised questions on the results, and now Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has also come into the fray. Rahul has claimed that if there are completely fair elections in the country, BJP will not be able to reach even close to 140 seats.
Rahul Gandhi posted on social media alleging that many BJP MPs had reached Parliament by "stealing votes". He said that the victory of every sixth MP out of 240 BJP MPs in the Lok Sabha is doubtful and questions are raised on it. Rahul said, "Sometimes the seat is snatched, sometimes the entire government." He also said that democracy is being weakened by tampering with voter lists and manipulating the election process.
Taking a jibe at BJP, Rahul Gandhi said that those who win by rigging votes, shouldn't they be called 'infiltrators' in the same BJP language? Along with this, he also targeted the Haryana government and termed it as an "intruder government". Rahul said that those who control institutions are actually afraid of fair elections.
Even before this, Rahul Gandhi has cornered BJP regarding the results of Bengal and Assam elections. He termed "theft of mandate" as dangerous for democracy and said that the opposition parties will have to think seriously on this issue together.
After the results of Bengal elections, Mamata Banerjee has also raised questions on BJP's victory. He claims that BJP has actually not got that many seats as shown. Mamta clearly refused to accept defeat and raised serious questions on the election process.
BJP surprised everyone by winning 207 seats in the West Bengal Assembly elections. For the first time after so many years, the party has come so close to forming the government in Bengal – this is a big thing in itself.
But as soon as the results came out, the opposition started raising questions. And now this trend is not stopping – every day some new statement, some new allegation is coming to the fore.
