New Delhi: The Red Fort bombing case has expanded rapidly, drawing attention to Al-Falah University in Faridabad. Investigators believe that Umar Nabi, the suicide attacker, may have received support from within the institution. He was reportedly a professor on campus and is said to have received special treatment.
Agencies suspect that someone inside may have helped him. A search operation has started and staff have begun leaving campus on sudden leave. The situation has created fear among employees and students.
As per reports, over 200 doctors and staff are currently under surveillance. Security agencies are checking whether those who left on leave after the blast have any links to terrorists. Some individuals are believed to have deleted mobile data, raising further suspicion. More than 1,000 people have been questioned so far. Investigations include scanning rooms in hostels and properties outside campus. Authorities are trying to trace communication links between the suspects and militant operatives.
Sources suggest Umar Nabi got unusual privileges during his tenure at the university. Two doctors who previously trained there revealed that Umar missed six months of duty in 2023 without facing any disciplinary action. He reportedly only worked evening or night shifts and rarely attended classes. His absence went unnoticed by management. Investigators are questioning how he was allowed such freedom. This has raised suspicion that his activities were known to certain insiders.
Investigative teams have also reached Nuh in Haryana. A 35-year-old woman, who rented a room to Umar Nabi, has been detained. She was missing after the Delhi blast and is believed to have close knowledge of his movements. It is reported that Umar used several mobile phones while staying in Nuh. Officials may question seven more individuals connected to this address. The search has now extended beyond academic circles to residential contacts as well.
Multiple agencies including NIA, Delhi Police Special Cell, UP ATS, Faridabad Crime Branch and Jammu & Kashmir Police have established a temporary command center inside Al-Falah University. Recently, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) joined the investigation. The permanent presence of officers indicates high-level security concern. Teams are analyzing movement records, communication logs and academic data. This coordination suggests that agencies are preparing for long-term enquiry.
NIA has arrested five individuals linked to Umar Nabi’s network. Those detained include doctors Mujammil Shakil Gani, Shahin Saeed, Adil Ahmed Rather and cleric Irfan Ahmed Wagay. Delhi’s Patiala House Court has granted ten days’ remand for interrogation. Including Umar’s suicide attack, six accused are now in NIA custody. Investigators are probing how this group executed the terror plan. The probe may intensify as foreign connections are explored.
