Senior IPS officer Milind Mahadeo Dumbre awarded Medal for Meritorious Service

New Delhi: Senior IPS officer milind Mahadeo Dumbre has been awarded the Medal for Meritorious Service on the occassion of Republic Day 2026. 

On the eve of the 77th Republic Day, President Droupadi Murmu approved the conferment of gallantry awards to 70 armed forces personnel, including six posthumous awards. Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla of the Indian Air Force and an Indian astronaut will be awarded the Ashok Chakra, India's highest peacetime gallantry award. These honors are bestowed for acts of exceptional courage, leadership, and distinguished service displayed in various military operations.

In addition, 81 Mention-in-Despatches have been awarded for contributions to various operations, rescue efforts, and casualty evacuations, including Operation Rakshak, Operation Snow Leopard, Operation Hifazat, Operation Orchid, and Operation Meghdoot.

Who is IPS Milind Mahadea Dumbere?

During his career, he has performed several important roles in various state police forces across the country including Mizoram, Chandigarh, Puducherry, Daman and Diu and Dadra and Nagar Haveli. He has also contributed to public administration during his tenure in the North Municipal Corp[oration of Delhi.

Throughout his career he has displayed leadership qualities of the highest caliber, successfully navigating several sensitive and challenging assignments. His operational acumen has resulted in the decisive maintainence of law and order. 

In various postings, he has spearheaded vital instuitional reforms on modernisation, capacity building and enhancing the efficiancy and accountability of the forces under his command. His initiatives in comminity outreach have successfully bridged the gap between the police and the citizenry, leading to better intelligence sharing and collaboration.

In Delhi, he has effectively handled complex law and order situations and supervised investigations as DCP in North-West District and South-West District earning the appreciation of the Commisioner of Police, Delhi.
