Maharashtra News: It has been over 48 hours since Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was brutally attacked by an unidentified intruder at his luxurious Bandra residence in Mumbai during the early hours of Thursday. Despite extensive efforts from more than 30 police teams, the assailant remains at large.
The attack occurred around 2 a.m., leaving Saif with multiple stab wounds, including a serious injury to his neck. He was swiftly transported to Lilavati Hospital in an autorickshaw, where he underwent emergency surgery to remove a 2.5-inch knife fragment lodged in his spine. According to Dr. Nitin Dange, a neurosurgeon at the hospital, had the knife penetrated just 2 mm deeper, it could have resulted in catastrophic damage.
Dr. Dange stated, "We are observing his progress, and he is doing excellently well according to our expectations."Maharashtra's Minister of State for Home (Urban), Yogesh Kadam, has dismissed any connections between the attack and organized crime. Investigators have detained a carpenter who resembled the intruder for questioning but later released him, indicating that he was likely unaware of whose home he had entered.
Saif Ali Khan is reportedly recovering well and is expected to be discharged within two to three days. Dr. Dange noted that the actor walked into the hospital "like a lion," despite being soaked in blood. The incident has sparked widespread media coverage and public concern regarding celebrity safety.Kareena Kapoor Khan, Saif's wife, has also provided her statement to the police regarding the attack, which has led to over 30 statements being recorded as part of the ongoing investigation.
The autorickshaw driver, Bhajan Singh Rana, who transported Saif to the hospital, has gained attention for his heroic actions during the crisis.
