A major political controversy has emerged in Maharashtra after a video surfaced online showing Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) leader and state minister Sanjay Shirsat allegedly with a bag full of cash. The video was shared by Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut, who suggested top leaders like Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Maharashtra Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis to take note of it.

Cash, Cigarette, and a Pet Dog: What the Video Shows

The footage shows Shirsat sitting on a bed in what appears to be his bedroom, smoking a cigarette. Next to him is an open bag filled with bundles of currency notes. Another suitcase is also visible, along with his pet dog in the background. Raut shared the clip on social media platform X, calling it a “thrilling” video that speaks volumes and raising questions about what is happening within the state’s leadership.

Shirsat Claims It’s a Plot Against Him

When contacted by media, Shirsat denied any wrongdoing. He said the video was taken without his knowledge and claimed someone was trying to trap him. “I had just returned from a trip and was relaxing in my room with my dog. I don’t know who filmed the video or where that money came from. If I really had that much money, I wouldn’t leave it lying out in the open, he told the TV media when questioned about the video.

Timing of Video Raises More Questions

Interestingly, the video came just a day after the Income Tax Department issued a notice to Shirsat, who is also the MLA from Aurangabad (West). He stated he would respond to the notice soon and that he is not afraid of the investigation. “Let the system do its work. I have nothing to hide,” he said.

Another MLA in Trouble

This controversy follows another case involving Shinde Sena MLA Sanjay Gaikwad, who was booked for allegedly attacking a canteen worker over bad food. While the state government criticized Gaikwad, opposition leaders are demanding stronger action.
