Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh: In a shocking incident, a group of monks from Punjab was allegedly assaulted in Ghaziabad while on their way to the Prayagraj Mahakumbh. The attack occurred when the monks stopped briefly at a local Mahant's shrine in the city.

The police have filed an FIR against two individuals, identified as Yashveer Yadav and Nakul Yadav, for their alleged involvement in the attack. The motive behind the assault is still unclear, but authorities have initiated a detailed investigation to determine the circumstances.

The monks, who had set out on their pilgrimage to participate in the revered Mahakumbh, decided to halt at the shrine to pay their respects. However, their peaceful visit took a violent turn when an altercation reportedly led to the physical attack.

Witnesses at the scene have claimed that the accused confronted the monks and escalated the situation. Following the incident, the injured monks approached the local police station to report the attack. Based on their complaint, law enforcement officials registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.

The incident has sparked outrage among the spiritual community, with calls for strict action against the perpetrators. Devotees have emphasized the need for ensuring the safety of pilgrims, especially during significant religious journeys like the Mahakumbh.

Meanwhile, Ghaziabad police have assured a swift and impartial probe. "We have registered a case and are investigating the matter thoroughly. Necessary steps will be taken to ensure justice," said a senior police officer.

As the investigation continues, the spiritual community awaits updates, hoping for a resolution that upholds the sanctity of religious harmony.
