New Delhi: In an important operation, the Special Cell of Delhi Police has arrested a suspect associated with Lashkar-e-Taiba near the Delhi border. According to the investigating agencies, this person was active in conspiracies against India for a long time and his activities were being monitored in recent times. The arrest has taken place at a time when vigilance has been increased regarding terrorist networks across the country.
Preliminary investigation has revealed that Shabbir Ahmed Lone was handling operations related to India while staying in Bangladesh. Agencies say he was trying to reactivate the network from there and plans for attacks in India were being prepared.
Investigating officers claim that the loan activities were being carried out on the instructions of Pakistan's intelligence agency ISI. Through that, such actions were being planned in India, in which Pakistan's role would not be directly exposed.
According to sources, the accused was trying to contact some people present in India, especially Bangladeshi citizens living illegally. Its objective was to get help at the local level and strengthen the network.
A few days ago, a suspicious network operating in Delhi and South India was exposed. The agencies are now also investigating whether the loan had any direct or indirect link with that module.
Investigation has also revealed that Lone has already been on the radar of security agencies. He was arrested with weapons in 2007 and evidence of his links with terrorist organizations was found at that time.
Officials say that the accused is being continuously interrogated. The focus of the investigation is on its network, sources of funding and possible plans so that the complete picture of the conspiracy can be revealed.
