Shailesh Jejurikar will become the new CEO of Procter & Gamble (P&G) on January 1, 2026. He will be the first Indian person to lead this famous American company in its 187-year history. Jejurikar is now the Chief Operating Officer at P&G and will take over from the current CEO, Jon Moeller.
With a career at P&G that spans 36 years, Jejurikar joins other well-known Indian leaders heading top global firms, such as Google’s Sundar Pichai, Microsoft’s Satya Nadella, YouTube’s Neal Mohan, and Chanel’s Leena Nair. The company confirmed his new role on Tuesday. Based in Ohio, P&G owns popular household brands like Tide, Ariel, and Pampers. His promotion comes as global consumer preferences are rapidly evolving.
Jejurikar has been with P&G since the start of his career. He began in 1989 as an assistant brand manager in India after finishing his MBA at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Lucknow. Over the years, he has held several important positions across regions and product divisions.
He became part of P&G’s global leadership team in 2014. As the CEO of the company’s $30 billion Fabric & Home Care business, he helped grow key brands like Tide, Ariel, Febreze, and Downy.
Right now, Jejurikar is in charge of Enterprise Markets, which include areas like Latin America, India, Southeast Asia, Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. He also looks after important parts of the company such as IT, manufacturing, sales, and global business services.
Born in Mumbai, Jejurikar completed his schooling at Hyderabad Public School, which is also the alma mater of Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella. He later attended Elphinstone College before pursuing his MBA from IIM Lucknow.
Apart from his work at P&G, Jejurikar has served on the boards of Otis Worldwide and The Christ Hospital. He has also played a role in P&G’s global efforts to support sustainability. P&G Board Lead Director Joe Jimenez said that Shailesh has been an important leader at the company and has helped in many parts of the business. He added that Jejurikar is a strong leader, and his continued guidance will help the company grow on the strong base he helped build.
