EC Announces Nationwide Voter List Revision; 12 States In Phase One (Youtube/ ECI)

News Delhi: The Election Commission (EC) has announced the nationwide voter list revision on Monday. Addressing a press conference, Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar said, “...In the states where SIR will be conducted, electoral rolls will be frozen at midnight, today. Later, voters will be given unique enumeration forms with all details.”

What are ECI SIR dates?

During the press conference, the Chief election commissioner Gyanesh Kumar said that the voter lists in all states undergoing the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) will be frozen at midnight tonight.

What will booth level officers do? 

Address a press conference, Gyanesh Kumar said that the Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will distribute Unique Enumeration Forms that will include details from the current voter list. He added that voters will also b able to check whether their names or their parents’ names, appeared on the 2003 voter list, in order to avoid submitting additional documents. 

He added that the 2002–2004 SIR voter list can be checked on http://voters.eci.gov.in. 

What are the SIR Dates?

During the press conference, the Election Commission of India also announced the second phase of the nationwide Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists. He stated that as many as twelve states will be covered under this phase of SIR process. 

Which states and UTs to go under SIR in second phase? 

Here arethe detailed list of 12 states and UTs that will go under SIR in second phase.

The nine states are Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Chhattisgarh, Kerala, West Bengal, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Goa, and Madhya Pradesh.

Meanwhile, the three Union Territories includes Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep, and Puducherry.

What are the key processes of SIR?

As per the key processes of SIR.

  • Print Unique Enumeration forms (EFs) for each elector as on October 27, 2025.
  • EFs will contain necessary details as contained in the current voter list.

BLOs will

  • Distribute the EFs to each existing elector.
  • Help the elector in matching/linking with either their name or their or their relative's name in last SIR held in 2002-2004.
  • For matching/linking electors/BLOs can also access All-India database of previous SIR.
