New Delhi:The SIR process may start from April In 22 states and union territories. The Election Commission has given instructions to the Chief Election Officers of these states to complete all preparations. The Election Commission has said in the direction that all the states and union territories due to go through the SIR process tis year must complete the primary preparations immediately so that the SIR can be started without any hindrance in the month of April.
Delhi, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Chandigarh, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Odisha, Punjab, Sikkim, Tripura, Telangana and Uttarakhand.
Booth Level Officer will go to every house and check whether the person registered in the voter list actually lives at the registered address. Names of people who have moved to another place or those who have died will be removed from the voters' list. Any mistake in name spelling, wrong age, poor quality photo or surname is covered under this campaign.
Keep documents ready: When the BLO comes to your home, have the Aadhaar cards of all your family members available. Keep the all relevant certificates ready.
Registration of new youth: If any youth in your household has completed 18 years of age or is going to turn 18 by January 2027, then this is the best time to add his or her name to the voters' list.
Provide information about shifting: If any member of the family has shifted to another place, then inform the BLO about it. Give it, so that the name can be removed from the old place and added to the new place.
