Crime News: In a surprising turn of events in a Delhi court, a case involving allegations of rape between a brother-in-law and sister-in-law took an unexpected twist during the proceedings. The Additional Sessions Judge, Vinod Kumar Meena, was taken aback when presented with WhatsApp messages between the two parties, revealing a seemingly amicable relationship that contradicted the rape allegations.

Allegations and legal proceedings

The case originated at the Vikaspuri police station, where an FIR was filed against the brother-in-law under serious charges, including rape, unnatural sexual offenses, cruelty to a married woman, criminal breach of trust, and common intention. The allegations stemmed from incidents occurring in September and November 2022. During the hearing of the anticipatory bail plea on September 18, the judge meticulously examined the arguments from both sides and the evidence submitted.

The court stated, "After hearing the arguments of both the parties and looking at the bail plea, reply to the bail plea, and the attached documents, it is found that the allegations are of serious nature. However, the WhatsApp chat shows that the accused and the complainant had a good relationship." The judge expressed surprise that the complainant had not reported the alleged incidents earlier, especially given their nature.

Conditions for bail

In its ruling, the court highlighted a lack of communication regarding the incident, noting that no messages or emails had been sent to any family members about the alleged assault. Additionally, it recognized ongoing marital disputes between the complainant and the brother of the accused, which may have influenced the circumstances of the case.

Ultimately, the court granted anticipatory bail to the accused brother-in-law but imposed specific conditions. The accused was instructed not to threaten the complainant or her family and to cooperate with the investigation as needed. In the event of his arrest, he would be released on bail upon providing a personal bond and a bail bond of ₹25,000 each.
