3 Arrested In Suvendu Adhikari PA Murder; UPI Transaction Helps Police Track Shooters : Report

New Delhi: Police has got a big success in the murder case of Chandranath Rath, PA of Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari. The Special Investigation Team of West Bengal Police has arrested three shooters from Uttar Pradesh. All the accused will be presented in Barasat court on Monday. The investigating agencies will seek his police remand from the court so that the murder conspiracy and the people behind it can be traced. According to sources, the accused were brought to Kolkata late on Sunday night, where they were interrogated throughout the night.

How was Chandranath Rath murdered?

On the night of 6 May, Chandranath Rath was returning from a political program. Suddenly his car was stopped by another vehicle in Madhyamgram area. Police investigation has revealed that two bikes were continuously following his car from some distance. As soon as the car stopped, an attacker riding a bike approached Rath's vehicle and fired bullets from very close range. The attack was so fast that the chariot did not even get a chance to recover. He died on the spot, while the driver was seriously injured.

Was the murder conspiracy hatched in advance?

Investigating officers believe that this murder did not happen suddenly. The accused carried out the crime with full preparation. Police suspect that this was planned about one and a half months in advance. The car used in the murder was brought from Jharkhand. Not only this, the number plates on cars and motorcycles were also found to be fake. Police say that its purpose was to divert the investigation so that it becomes difficult to reach the real accused.

How did digital payment reveal the secret?

During the investigation, the police found an important clue. The accused had made the payment through UPI at Bally Toll Plaza near Kolkata. This digital transaction changed the whole story. Police examined the CCTV footage of the toll plaza and identified the suspicious vehicle. After this, the location and activities of the accused were ascertained through transaction records. Ultimately, based on this clue, all three shooters were arrested.

Is there a political reason behind the murder?

Suvendu Adhikari has given a big statement linking this incident to political enmity. He says that Chandranath Rath was targeted only because he was his close associate. The officer claimed that if Rath had not been his personal assistant, he might not have been murdered. There has been continuous tension in the politics of the state since the assembly elections and this incident has further heated the atmosphere.

Now in which direction will the investigation proceed?

Police are now trying to find out who sent the shooters and who prepared the entire conspiracy for the murder. The investigating agencies are examining mobile call records, bank transactions and contacts of the accused. Officials believe that many more big revelations may be made in the coming days during interrogation.
