New Delhi: A shocking incident unfolded in Telangana’s Karimnagar district, where a policeman was caught on camera repeatedly hitting a woman with a baton outside a police station. The incident occurred on Saturday, when a couple, who had been quarreling at home, arrived at the Metpalli police station to resolve their differences. However, the argument between them continued to escalate, even in front of the police station.

According to reports, ASI Anjaneyu and a head constable intervened in an attempt to pacify the couple. Despite their efforts, the woman continued to shout at her husband and grabbed onto his shirt, refusing to back down. In response, ASI Anjaneyu struck the woman with a baton and chased her away from the scene. The entire episode was captured on the police station’s CCTV camera, and the footage has since gone viral, sparking outrage.The woman’s family has raised serious allegations against the police officers involved, accusing the head constable of misbehavior and demanding strict action against both policemen seen in the video.
Assistant engineer caught accepting bribe in Hyderabad
In a separate incident, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of the Hyderabad unit caught an assistant engineer red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 on Friday. The accused, identified as 27-year-old Jadi Chethan, is an assistant engineer in the irrigation and command area development department in Chennur.
According to officials, Chethan demanded the bribe from a contractor as a reward for submitting Measurement Books (MB) related to Ernest Money Deposit (EMD) and Fixed Security Deposit (FSD) for an amount of Rs 79,123. The work in question involved the restoration of Salekunta near Dugnepalli, Chennur, executed under the Mission Kakateeya Programme in 2016-17.
The contractor, Bomma Chandra Shekar Reddy, reported the matter to the ACB, leading to the trap being set. Chethan was caught in the act of accepting the bribe, and the tainted money was recovered from his possession. A chemical test confirmed traces of the bribe on his hands. The accused officer was arrested and produced before a court on Friday, and an investigation is ongoing.
