Bihar: The counting of votes for the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 will begin at 8 am today. On this day it will become clear who will hold the keys to power for the next five years. The contest is believed to be mainly between the NDA and the Grand Alliance, while in some areas other parties are also making their presence felt. First the postal ballots will be counted, and EVMs will open from 8:30 am. If the process continues without interruption, the picture will be largely clear by afternoon.
A total of 46 counting centers have been set up for 243 assembly constituencies of the state. The fate of 2,616 candidates is locked in EVMs and postal ballots. It is being estimated that the results of the Barbigha and Makhdumpur seats will be known first, because the number of booths in these areas is relatively less. There are a total of 275 booths in Barbigha and the time taken per round is approximately ten minutes. Counting can be completed in a total of 19–20 rounds, so the final result for this region can come in three to three and a half hours.
Areas with the lowest number of booths include Gaurabauram and Gaya Town, with 296–296 booths. Counting of votes will proceed rapidly at both these places, and the results are likely to come between 11:30 am and 12:30 pm. There are 286 booths in Hayaghat, and the final trend will emerge after 20–21 rounds of counting. In areas where the number of booths is high, it may take some time to get the results, but the Commission has made arrangements to ensure that each round is completed smoothly.
The Election Commission of India has clarified that the code of conduct will remain in effect till November 16, and any violation will not be tolerated during this period. Under Section 163 of BNSS 2023, the prohibitory order will remain in force from the day of counting till the end of the code of conduct. There will be a ban on any kind of victory procession, meeting, protest, or demonstration. There will also be a complete ban on the use of loudspeakers. Political parties and candidates have been instructed not to do any activity contrary to the guidelines; otherwise, legal action will be taken.
It is estimated that the decision of 243 winners will be almost finalized by 3 pm. This time the voters were seen full of enthusiasm in the elections, and now everyone's eyes are on whom the public has given a chance to. This election will not just change power but will decide the direction of the state and the political definition of the coming years.
