'There Will Be No CM Worse Than Me': Bengal CM Suvendu Adhikari Warns Lawbreakers (ANI)
Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari is in the action mode since coming to power. On Friday he came out with a direct warning to the goons, criminals and troublemakers. He said that if anyone wish to break the law or even tries to will find no worse enemy than him. The warning came at a time when law and order in Bengal has been under the scrutiny so far. After the attack on TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee, the Suvendu government faced criticism from several quarters at the national level. Adhikari is clearly trying to send a strong message that his administration will not tolerate lawlessness.
Adhikari confirmed PM Modi's upcoming visit to Bengal while speaking to the media on Friday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Bengal on June 20. He will go to Tarakeshwar and inaugurate several projects. This will be Modi's first visit to Bengal after BJP formed the government in the state. He will also be in Kolkata on June 21 for International Yoga Day.
Adhikari has promised that they will. The previous Mamata Banerjee government had refused to implement several central welfare schemes due to its ongoing tensions with Delhi. Adhikari has now reversed that stand completely. He said the Constitution matters to everyone and his government will work for the welfare of the people. Several agreements are being signed with the Centre and all central welfare schemes will now be available to Bengal's citizens.
He praised the Prime Minister at length. He said Modi has broken all records of popularity and serving the nation is his only purpose. He pointed out that the central government has developed over 90 airports during its tenure, which he called a record in itself. He also noted that Modi prefers to call himself Pradhan Sevak rather than Prime Minister.
BJP ended Mamata Banerjee's 15-year rule when results came on May 4. Since then her party has been falling apart fast. More than 60 newly elected TMC MLAs are reportedly pushing her to the margins. Around 19 Lok Sabha MPs have reportedly already broken away. Four Rajya Sabha MPs have resigned. The TMC that once dominated Bengal politics is a shadow of itself today.
