Tourist Opens Fire on Local in Kasol After Parking Dispute, Four Held (X)

Kasol: A large number of tourists are visiting Himachal Pradesh these days during the tourist season, but cases of tourists creating ruckus are also being reported at many places. One such incident has occurred in Himachal Pradesh's popular tourist destination of Kasol after a dispute over parking allegedly escalated into gun violence between a group of tourists and local youths.

What happen in Kullu?

The incident, which occurred in the tourist town of Manali in Kullu district, started after a disagreement over parking in crowded market and then later exploded into violence when a tourist allegedly drew a pistol and shot a local youth. 

The video, in which the accused can be seen waving of a pistol after firing, surfaced online and went viral on social media. 

Who was injured in the incident?

According to reports, the argument began with a verbal exchange between tourists and local youths over where a vehicle was parked. The dispute suddenly escalated in the busy market area and later turned physical. 

In the middle of the argument, one of the tourists is said to have pulled out a handgun and opened fire, striking a young local man who was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

What did the police say?

Superintendent of Police, Kullu, Madan Lal Kaushal, said that an altercation between local youths and those from Punjab over parking in Kasol escalated into a physical altercation. During the altercation, a youth from Punjab shot a local youth in the leg.

The injured youth is being treated at Kullu Hospital. Upon receiving information, a police team arrived at the scene and detained four youths. Police also confiscated the weapons and the youths' vehicle.

Authorities arrested four youths in connection with the case and seized the vehicle allegedly used by the accused. Investigators also recovered the pistol believed to have been used during the confrontation.

Is anyone absconding?

Meanwhile, another person involved in the incident, Taman, a resident of Batala, District Gurdaspur, Punjab, has fled the scene and is being searched for. Superintendent of Police Kullu, Madan Lal Kaushal, stated that the police are pursuing legal action on every important aspect of the case. A case has been registered under various sections of the IPC. The police are pursuing legal action on every important aspect of the case.
