Bhopal: Before handing the investigation of Twisha Sharma death to the Crime Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the accused husband, Samarth Singh, was questioned for three hours by the Madhya Pardesh police Special Investigation Team (SIT). During the investigation, the lawyer told the investigators that the former model has become "distressed" following her abortion.

According to lawyers, Twisha Sharma had suffered mental distress after having an abortion. The death of former model and Miss Pune, Twisha Sharma (33), under mysterious circumstances on the night of May 12, 2026, in a luxurious bungalow in Katara Hills, the capital, shocked the entire nation.

According to reports, Twisha was found hanging in her in-laws' home. Her husband, Samarth Singh, a criminal lawyer and influential woman, and her mother-in-law, Giribala Singh (a former district judge), have been accused of dowry harassment, mental and physical violence.

What happen during questioning?

As per Madhya Pradesh police sources quoted by news agency ANI, the SIT conducted a recreation of the crime scene, which lasted over two hours, prior to which the SIT interrogated Twisha's husband, Samarth Singh, for approximately three hours.

The quoted sources added that Samarth informed the SIT that Twisha had been distressed following her abortion.

During the SIT interrogation, Samarth Singh claimed that Twisha went into depression after the abortion. He said that the relationship became strained after the pregnancy was discovered. The CBI on Monday registered an FIR in the case and formally took over the investigation after the Supreme Court handed over the probe to the central agency.

The CBI charged Samarth Singh and Giribala Singh under sections 80(2), 85, 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita and the Dowry Prohibition Act.

The agency's Special Crime Unit has arrived in Bhopal and is gathering digital evidence.
