National news: A chilling New Year's Eve party in Kamothe, India, has turned horrific, resulting in the gruesome murder of a mother and son. Geeta Jaggi, 70, and her son Jitendra Jaggi, 45, were found dead in their apartment on January 1st, victims of a gruesome double homicide.
It all started with a call reporting suspected gas leak in the house of Jaggi. When policemen went to see the house, they found it stinking due to gas leaks; the gas burners on the stove had been left alight and windows were completely sealed. Dead bodies of Geeta and Jitendra lay separately in separate bed rooms in that apartment.
Initial investigations point to a suspected murder-suicide. However, with further scrutiny, the motives revealed a worse scenario. Gay Jitendra had invited over two friends--Shubham Mahendra Narayani and Sanjyot Mangesh Dodke; all three were 19 years old-in order to mark New Year over his house itself.
During the celebration, the incident has been reported that both Narayani and Dodke were sexually harassed by Jitendra, and their rage led to an attack on Jitendra, in which the duo hit his head several times with a wood object.
Ignoring Geeta's wails over her son's cries, Narayani rushed into the other room to strangle Geeta. To continue their crime, the attackers went to the kitchen, opened the burner, and turned on the gas stove and left it flamed to fake an accidental gas leak and cover up this crime.
Cctv footage played a crucial role in identifying the suspects. Narayani and Dodke were seen entering the building late on New Year's Eve and leaving early the next morning. They were later apprehended while attempting to dispose of the clothes they wore during the murders.
The deceased, Jitendra, had befriended Narayani a couple of years ago while walking his dog. Through Narayani, he also met Dodke. The trio occasionally gathered for social gatherings, but the New Year's Eve party took a horrifying turn, shattering their friendship and leaving two families devastated.
