Bihar: Strong storm, rain, hailstorm and lightning caused huge devastation in many areas of North India on Monday. Due to this bad weather, 24 people lost their lives in Uttar Pradesh and 20 in Bihar, while many people were injured. The sudden change in weather completely affected normal life.
Strong winds and lightning incidents worsened the situation at many places. Trees and electric poles fell, wires were broken and power supply was disrupted in hundreds of villages. Traffic stopped on many roads, due to which people had to face a lot of problems.
This weather had the biggest impact on farmers. Mango, wheat and vegetable crops have suffered huge losses. Especially in many districts of Bihar, mango and litchi cultivation has suffered a major setback, due to which the concern of the farmers has increased.
The weather in Uttar Pradesh was changing continuously for the last few days, but the situation became worse on Monday morning. Suddenly dark clouds covered about 50 districts including Lucknow and there was a dark atmosphere during the day itself. The situation worsened due to strong wind, rain and lightning and people had to switch on vehicle lights during the day.
There was heavy damage in districts of Bihar like Aurangabad, Gaya, Rohtas, Bhojpur, Vaishali, East Champaran and Sitamarhi. At many places, people died and many were injured due to lightning. The maximum impact was seen in East Champaran, where many people lost their lives.
The meteorological department has also issued an alert for the next two days. There is a possibility of strong storm, rain and hailstorm in many districts of UP. Thunderstorm warnings have also been issued at many places, hence people have been advised to remain alert.
The impact of bad weather was clearly visible on air services also. The plane coming from Delhi to Lucknow, in which Brajesh Pathak and Keshav Prasad Maurya were on board, had to be sent to Bhopal on the way.
