UP News: In a deeply disturbing incident from Lucknow’s Gosaiganj area, a Class 8 student was allegedly assaulted and raped by a DJ, Abhishek Rawat, on Wednesday night. The accused was apprehended by villagers after the incident and handed over to the police. The victim’s mother has filed a formal complaint, and legal proceedings have been initiated against the accused under the POCSO Act, rape, and assault charges.

Incident Details

The horrific event unfolded when the minor stepped out of her home late at night for defecation. Abhishek, a DJ by profession and a resident of Rasulpur in Gosaiganj, reportedly grabbed the girl and dragged her to a toilet outside the village. The accused threatened to kill her when she resisted and brutally beat her. When the girl fainted, he allegedly raped her.

Police Action and Charges

Inspector Brajesh Kumar Tripathi of Gosaiganj police station confirmed that Abhishek Rawat has been arrested and sent to jail. “A case has been registered under relevant sections of the POCSO Act, rape, and assault. We are taking all necessary steps to ensure justice for the victim,” Tripathi stated. The incident highlights the persistent issue of crimes against women and minors in rural areas, emphasizing the need for stricter enforcement of safety measures and community awareness.
