New Delhi: A couple of controversial statements by Uttar Pradesh Minister of State Thakur Raghuraj Singh regarding Bollywood stars Salman Khan and Shahrukh Khan surfaced on Thursday. The minister kicked off a controversy in political circles and on social media platforms by accusing Salman Khan of harbouring anti-India sentiments before training his guns on Shahrukh Khan as well.
In his statement, Raghuraj Singh called Salman Khan a traitor. He said that Salman loves Pakistan more than India and he should go to the neighbouring country. Raghuraj Singh even went so far as to say that Salman Khan should be hanged. He appealed to people not to watch Salman Khan's films.
Raghuraj Singh alleged that Salman Khan attracts Hindus in India, earns money here, and then supports Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Muslims. He also claimed that Salman Khan sends the country's money to Pakistan. Following this statement, a controversy erupted in political circles and on social media platforms.
The statement went viral on social media, and as the controversy intensified, another statement from Raghuraj emerged in which he retracted his earlier statement, saying that he was talking about actor Shah Rukh Khan and had mistakenly taken Salman's name. He added that Salman Khan is a good actor.
In his second statement, Thakur Raghuraj Singh said that he had mistakenly taken Salman's name and was actually referring to Shah Rukh Khan. Now, both these statements are going viral on social media. Minister Raghuraj is once again in the news for his controversial statements. It is noteworthy that Minister Raghuraj Singh has given controversial statements earlier as well.
