New Delhi: The weather has turned pleasantly cool across various parts of the country, including North India. There has been significant relief from the scorching heat. This week, there is a possibility of isolated heavy rainfall in Northeast India and the Southern Peninsular region. Meanwhile, on May 31, storms accompanied by strong winds gusting up to 90 kilometers per hour are expected in parts of Northwest, Central, and adjoining East India. Additionally, spells of thunderstorms will continue, and hailstorms are also likely to occur. Amidst these developments, the prevalence of heatwave conditions across the country has subsided due to the rainfall.

What is the weather forecast for Northeast India?

Regarding Northeast India, the Meteorological Department has stated that widespread rainfall is expected across the entire region throughout this week. Between June 3 and June 6, Assam and Meghalaya will experience rain accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds. Isolated heavy rainfall is forecast for Arunachal Pradesh on May 31 and from June 2 to June 6; for Assam and Meghalaya from June 3 to June 6; and for Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura on May 31, June 1, and from June 5 to June 6.

What is weather report for South India?

Turning to South India, isolated moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds is expected in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal from May 31 to June 4; in Kerala, Mahe, and Lakshadweep from May 31 to June 2; in Telangana from May 31 to June 6; and in North Karnataka from May 31 to June 4. From May 31 to June 4, Rayalaseema, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and Coastal Karnataka are likely to experience thunderstorms and squalls, with wind speeds reaching up to 70 kilometers per hour. Furthermore, heavy rainfall is expected in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal from May 31 to June 4, and in Kerala and Mahe from May 31 to June 2.

What about weather conditions in eastern India?

In East India, Odisha is likely to experience thunderstorms and squalls on May 31 and June 1, with wind speeds reaching up to 80 kilometers per hour during this period. Meanwhile, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands are expected to experience widespread light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds, from May 31 to June 6. Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim are likely to witness isolated light to moderate rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds from June 1 to June 6; the Gangetic Plains of West Bengal on May 31; Bihar on May 31, June 1, and June 6; Jharkhand from May 31 to June 6; and Odisha from June 2 to June 6. Furthermore, isolated heavy rainfall is forecast for Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim during the period of June 4 to June 6, and for Odisha on May 31 and June 1. Isolated hailstorms are also expected in Odisha on May 31 and June 1.

Weather Update for North India?

Regarding North India, Uttarakhand is expected to receive moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and strong squally winds on May 31, June 1, June 5, and June 6. An alert for thunderstorms, strong winds, and moderate rainfall has been issued for Punjab from May 31 to June 5; for Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi from June 1 to June 4; for Uttar Pradesh on June 1; and for Rajasthan over the next seven days. Eastern Rajasthan is likely to experience thunderstorms accompanied by squally winds on June 2, with wind speeds expected to reach up to 80 kilometers per hour.

Additionally, alerts for stormy winds—reaching speeds of up to 70 km/h—accompanied by thunderstorms have been issued for Jammu & Kashmir during May 31 and June 3–6; for Himachal Pradesh during June 4–6; for Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi on May 31 and June 4; for Uttar Pradesh on May 31; for Western Rajasthan on June 2; and for Eastern Rajasthan on June 1. Heavy rainfall is forecast for Uttarakhand and adjoining Western Uttar Pradesh on May 31. Isolated hailstorms are also expected in Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan on May 31.
