Weather Report: IMD Predicts Cold Wave In Northern, Central India; Dense Fog To Continue

New Delhi: In various parts of the country, including North India, people are facing difficulties due to bone chilling cold, dense fog and scattered rainfall. But if you are expecting some relief from your winter troubles, you are in for a disappointment.

What does the weatherman say?

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Sunday that no relief is expected in the next few days. The temperature may drop by another two to three degrees. The meteorological department has forecast dense to very dense fog during the night and morning hours over northern India and adjoining regions of central India during the next seven days.

According to the IMD, cold wave conditions are expected in some parts of Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, western Madhya Pradesh, and Bihar on January 5. There is also a strong possibility of cold wave conditions in some parts of Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh from January 5-8. Cold wave conditions are also predicted in western Rajasthan from January 5-9, in eastern Rajasthan from January 5-10, and in Jharkhand from January 6-7.

There will be no significant change in minimum temperatures over many parts of Northwest India during the next 48 hours. After that, the temperature will fall by two to three degrees over the next two days. There is also a possibility of scattered rainfall over the Western Himalayan region. The plains of Northwest India will remain dry.

What about the Delhi winter?

Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 7.4 degrees Celsius on Sunday. According to the India Meteorological Department, cold wave conditions are likely in some parts of Delhi between Saturday and January 6. A cold wave is declared when the minimum temperature is 4.5 degrees Celsius to 6.5 degrees Celsius below the average temperature.

According to IMD data, the minimum temperature recorded at Safdarjung was 7.4 degrees Celsius, at Palam 6.8 degrees Celsius, at Lodhi Road 7.6 degrees Celsius, at the Ridge area 8.9 degrees Celsius, and at Ayanagar 6.6 degrees Celsius. The humidity was recorded at 92 percent at 8:30 AM. The maximum temperature is expected to be around 17 degrees Celsius.
