New Delhi: Several states in North India are gradually getting relief from the intense cold. Minimum temperatures have risen in many places, including Uttar Pradesh and Delhi, due to sunshine during the day. However, the cold continues to persist during the early morning period and at night. 

What is the weather update by IMD?

Meanwhile, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) warned on Sunday that two western disturbances are expected to hit the western Himalayan regions, including the hilly states of North India, next week, which will cause a change in weather and lead to heavy rain and snowfall in some areas around January 23.  People living in these areas need to be cautious. In addition, there is a rain alert for the plains of North India, including Uttar Pradesh, during January 22-24. Dense to very dense fog is expected in Northwest India and Bihar during the next two to three days.

How was the weather in last 24 hours?

Regarding the weather in the last 24 hours, the IMD has informed that the minimum temperature in Himachal Pradesh was between one and four degrees Celsius, while in parts of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, and Uttarakhand, it was between 5-9 degrees Celsius. In the rest of Punjab, most parts of Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, South-West Bihar, North Rajasthan, North Madhya Pradesh, North Chhattisgarh, many places in Jharkhand, interior Odisha, parts of Sikkim, parts of Gangetic West Bengal, and the rest of the country, it was 10 degrees Celsius and above.

What is the weather prediction for the next few days?

Light to moderate rain/snowfall is likely at isolated places in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, and Himachal Pradesh during January 18-21. Widespread rain/snowfall is expected during January 22-24. Heavy rain is possible in the higher reaches of Kashmir-Ladakh and Himachal Pradesh on January 23.  Light to moderate rain/snowfall is expected at isolated places in Uttarakhand on January 18, 21, and 22. Widespread rain is possible during January 23-24.

Rain is also expected at isolated places in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Rajasthan during January 22-24. Thunderstorms are expected in Uttarakhand on January 23 and 24, and in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Rajasthan on January 22-23.
