Heavy Rain Alert Across Several States, Delhi Completes August Rainfall Quota In Just 8 Days

New Delhi: The Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert of heavy to very heavy rain in many states in the next few days. Rainfall may increase from mountains to plains in central India. At the same time, the weather is going to be bad in some parts of South India for the next 2 days.

In which states is there an alert of heavy rain?

According to IMD this week:

• Hilly states: Heavy rain, strong wind and possibility of lightning in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh.
• Plain areas: Heavy rain in parts of East Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.
• South India: Heavy rain in Kerala, Coastal Karnataka and South Interior Karnataka for the next 2 days. People living in these areas should keep watching the local weather updates.

The Meteorological Department has also given an immediate alert for some states. Rain may be accompanied by lightning and wind speed of 40-60 km/hr.

• Meghalaya: Orange alert in South Garo Hills and South West Khasi Hills. Chhattisgarh, MP,
• Uttarakhand: Warning of bad weather in many districts.

Chhattisgarh: Bemetara, Bilaspur, Kabirdham, Mahasamund, Mungeli
Madhya Pradesh: Anuppur, Balaghat, Chhatarpur, Damoh, Dindori, Guna, Jabalpur, Mandla, Raisen, Sagar, Seoni, Shahdol, Umaria, Vidisha.
Uttarakhand: The risk of landslides and road closure may increase in Bageshwar, Chamoli, Champawat, Pithoragarh mountains.

What has IMD advised the people?

• Do not stand under trees during storms and lightning.
• Do not stop in weak houses or open places.
• Check the road and weather conditions before leaving the house.
• If not necessary, avoid traveling in bad weather.
• Follow the instructions of the local administration.

It has been raining continuously in the capital Delhi since August 1. The situation is such that in the first 8 days of the month itself, the entire average rainfall figure of August has been crossed.
