Kolkata: Addressing a rally in Singur, West Bengal, on Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi targeted the state's TMC government, saying that infiltrators must be sent back from the state. He said that everyone wants the 15-year-long "jungle raj" in West Bengal to end. The people of Bengal are fed up with the Trinamool Congress's "misgovernance" and want to oust the party from power.
The Prime Minister said, "We have to make Vande Mataram our mantra for the development of West Bengal and the country." He claimed that Bengali received classical language status only after the BJP came to power at the center. The Trinamool Congress was part of the UPA government at the center, but the then government did not grant classical language status to Bengali.
PM Modi said, "I want to serve the people of Bengal, but the Trinamool government is preventing them from receiving the benefits of the central government's schemes. Shouldn't the Trinamool Congress government be punished for working against the interests of the people of Bengal?" He added that the people of Bengal will teach the "cruel" Trinamool government a lesson in the upcoming assembly elections. He said that Bengal's education system is in the grip of Trinamool Congress's corruption, and students are deprived of quality education. To prevent teachers from losing their jobs due to corruption, it is essential to vote for the BJP. PM Modi said that many people are living here with fake documents, with the connivance of the TMC government, and it has become necessary to send them back.
Prime Minister Modi performed the groundbreaking ceremony for the Kaziranga Elevated Corridor Project in Assam on Sunday. He also flagged off two new Amrit Bharat Express trains. Addressing the gathering on the occasion, PM Modi said that the Congress party created instability in Assam for its political gain and pushed Assam into the fire of violence.
He said that Assam faced major challenges after independence, but instead of finding solutions to those problems, the Congress party exploited them for political gain. He said that when trust was needed, the Congress promoted division. When dialogue was needed, the Congress neglected it and closed the doors to conversation. When the need was to heal the wounds of its people and serve the people of Assam, the Congress was busy welcoming infiltrators at Assam's doorstep.
PM Modi said that the Congress does not consider the people of Assam as its own. Congress leaders prefer foreign infiltrators because they come here and become a staunch vote bank for the Congress. That is why, during the Congress rule, foreign infiltrators continued to arrive, occupying lakhs of acres of land in Assam, and the Congress government continued to support them.
“When we respect the art, culture, and identity of Assam, there are some people who feel troubled. The Congress leaders do not like the respect given to Assam. The Congress opposed giving the Bharat Ratna to Bhupen Hazarika. A minister in the Congress government of Karnataka opposed the semiconductor unit in Assam,” PM Modi said..
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the biggest pain of the Northeast has always been distance. The distance of hearts and the distance of places. For decades, the people here felt that the country's development was happening elsewhere and they were being left behind. This affected not only the economy but also trust. The BJP has worked to change this feeling.
He said that the double-engine government has made the development of the Northeast a priority. The work to connect Assam through roadways, railways, airways, and waterways began simultaneously, but the Congress party never paid attention to it. When the Congress government was in power at the center, Assam received very little (approximately 2000 crore rupees) in the railway budget. Now, the BJP government has increased it to approximately 10,000 crore rupees annually.
