According to Delhi Police sources, Rajya Sabha MP for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Swati Maliwal, filed a police complaint after Bibhav Kumar, Arvind Kejriwal's personal assistant, was accused of assaulting her. Reports state that the assault case involving Swati Maliwal is expected to result in the filing of a formal complaint soon. The chief minister's home was the scene of the attack.
A team from Delhi Police paid Swati Maliwal a visit at her New Delhi home on Thursday, following reports that the AAP MP had been beaten at Arvind Kejriwal's home. According to officials, Swati Maliwal was interrogated by the police for almost four hours and her remarks were recorded. At her Central Delhi home, a two-person Delhi Police squad recorded her statement. An officer in the police department stated that Swati Maliwal reported the incident at the chief minister's residence on Monday. According to the officer, police may file a complaint over the alleged "attack."According to reports, Swati Maliwal went to the Civil Lines police station on Monday, May 13, and said that one of Arvind Kejriwal's personal assistants had "assaulted" her. She did not, however, formally report anything to the authorities.
According to a seven-page charge submitted by her states, Bibhav Kumar, the former PA of Delhi Chief Minister and AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal, allegedly slapped party MP Swati Maliwal five to six times, hitting her on her lower body as well as her chest and stomach.
Due to accusations made by Swati Maliwal, the National Commission for Women (NCW) called Arvind Kejriwal's assistant, Bibhav Kumar, earlier on Thursday. The hearing is set for this Friday at 11:00 a.m. Arvind Kejriwal, meanwhile, is coming under fire from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for allegedly dodging questions about the alleged attack on Swati Maliwal.
"It is astonishing, in fact disturbing, that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has not uttered a word regarding his party MP Rajya Sabha Swati Maliwal, who was misbehaving with and assaulting up in the CM's residence," stated Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. The CM has not said anything, done anything, or replied to anything. I have been informed today that he was spotted strolling around with the accused in Uttar Pradesh. The treatment of a woman who chaired the Delhi Commission for Women is just deplorable, she declared.
Following this, Vibhav Kumar received a notice from the National Commission for Women (NCW) on Thursday. On May 17, he was scheduled for interrogation.
