Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) and Jharkhand Police killed gangster and shooter Anuj Kanaujia in an encounter on Saturday night. It is being told that gangster Anuj Kanaujia was carrying out criminal activities in eastern UP for more than two decades. There was also a reward of Rs 2.5 lakh on the gangster. A senior officer said that more than 23 cases were registered against the gangster in various police stations of Ghazipur, Azamgarh and Mau districts. The officer said that 'sharpshooter' Anuj Kanaujia of Mukhtar Ansari gang was killed in an encounter with a joint team of Uttar Pradesh STF and Jharkhand Police.

The police was trying to arrest him. A reward was also placed on him for catching the gangster. According to the information, Anuj Kanaujia was Mukhtar Ansari's sharp shooter. He was a native of Mau in UP. His criminal history is of two decades. He was absconding for about 5 years, dodging the police. But then the police got success and Anuj Kanaujia died in an encounter. During the police encounter, the police recovered two pistols of 9 mm and .32 bore from Kanaujia.

Anuj Kanaujia was Mukhtar Ansari's sharp shooter. Kanaujia had committed many criminal acts under the protection of Mukhtar Ansari. Mukhtar Ansari died of a heart attack a year ago on 28 March 2025. Exactly a year later, Kanaujia also died in a police encounter on Ansari's death anniversary. According to police sources, Kanaujia entered the world of crime due to a personal enmity in the village. After which Ansari gave him protection and Kanaujia became a sharp shooter in no time.
