New Delhi: India's Foreign Ministry shot back hard on Saturday. Pakistan's President Asif Ali Zardari made comments about Muslim religious sites in India. India says he has no business saying anything about India's internal matters. The MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal called the comments absurd. He pointed out Pakistan's own terrible human rights record, something that gets criticism from around the world. He also said Pakistan has a long history of targeting minorities.
"The President's remarks are just a political attack," Jaiswal said. "It comes from Pakistan's policy of bigotry and hatred."
Pakistan's President claimed there are threats to historic Muslim religious sites in India. He said this could cause "disintegration and chaos" in the country. The whole thing is based on unverified information.
This isn't new. Pakistan keeps making unverified claims about minority issues in India.
In December 2025, India's government dismissed Pakistan's allegations about mistreatment of religious minorities. India said Pakistan uses finger-pointing to distract from its own problems with minorities across different faiths.
Back then, a Pakistani Foreign Office spokesperson said the world should notice "Christmas vandalism and attacks on Muslims" in India. India responded by saying Pakistan should look in the mirror.
In April 2025, India also rejected Pakistan's criticism of India's Waqf Amendment Act. Pakistan said something about how India treats minorities. India's MEA said Pakistan shouldn't lecture anyone when its own record on minority rights is so bad. "Pakistan has no business commenting on India's internal matters," the official said.
