Islamabad: Violence has once again been claimed to have intensified in Pakistan's restive Baluchistan province. The separatist organisation Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility for two separate attacks against Pakistani army and security forces on September 3, claiming the killing of 25 soldiers. However, these claims have not been independently verified and there has been no official confirmation of the death of soldiers from Pakistan either.

How many soldiers did BLA claim to have killed in the first attack?

According to BLA, the first attack was targeted at a Pakistani Army convoy near Ziarat Cross. The organisation claims that its fighters destroyed two vehicles of the convoy. It is said that 18 security personnel were killed in this attack.

According to the organisation, five injured soldiers managed to escape during the attack, while the attackers also claimed to have captured some weapons.

What happened in the second attack in Surab?

The BLA claimed the second attack in Hajika area of Surab. According to the organisation, its STOS detonated a remote-controlled vehicle. Seven security personnel claimed to have been killed in this attack.

BLA has also said about the involvement of its Fateh Squad in the attack on Ziarat Cross. The organisation has claimed responsibility for both the attacks.

Has Pakistan confirmed the death of 25 soldiers?

Despite BLA's claim, the killing of 25 security personnel has not yet been confirmed by the Pakistan government, army or any independent source. In such a situation, the figures given by the organisation are being seen only as claims.

BLA has earlier also claimed the killing of a large number of soldiers following attacks on Pakistani army and security forces in Balochistan.

Why is violence increasing in Balochistan?

There has been a long-running conflict between separatist organizations and Pakistani security forces in Balochistan. The BLA demands independence of Balochistan from Pakistan and has been targeting government institutions, the army and security forces.

The organization had also claimed several attacks in August 2026. It was claimed that 22 coordinated attacks were carried out in eight days between 9 and 15 August and 26 Pakistani security personnel were killed in them. However, these claims were also not independently verified.

Due to the continuous violence in Balochistan, questions are once again being raised about Pakistan's security system and peace in the region.
