Islamabad: Pakistan has claimed to launch a major military operation against terrorists on the border with Afghanistan. According to the Pakistani Army, 29 terrorists have been killed in this action taken on the basis of intelligence information. This operation has taken place at a time when tension between Pakistan and Afghanistan regarding cross-border terrorism is continuously increasing.

How did Pakistan carry out this military operation?

Pak Army says that the operation was started after receiving intelligence input. First the ground forces surrounded the suspected hideouts. After that, precise military strikes were conducted on the hideouts and hiding places of the terrorists. The army claims that 29 terrorists were killed in this action.

Why did the action intensify after the Karachi attack?

This operation was carried out just a day after the major terrorist attack on Sindh Rangers Headquarters in Karachi. In that attack, there was a long encounter between the security forces and the terrorists. In this, 6 terrorists and 4 Ranger soldiers were killed. After this the security agencies intensified operations in the border areas.

What did the army say on the operation?

The Pakistani Army said in its statement that the security forces conducted the ground operation on the basis of intelligence. After this, targeted action was taken at the hideouts of the terrorists. The Army claims that many terrorist hideouts were also targeted during the operation.

Why is tension increasing between Pakistan and Afghanistan?

Pakistan has been alleging for a long time that the Taliban government of Afghanistan is giving shelter to the fighters of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan i.e. TTP on its land. Islamabad says that these terrorists come to Pakistan and carry out attacks. However, the Taliban government of Afghanistan has been continuously rejecting these allegations.

What can happen next on the border?

After the recent military action, the tension between the two countries is likely to increase further. Security experts believe that if the differences between the two countries regarding cross-border terrorism do not reduce, then military activity in the border areas may intensify in the coming days.
