Was A Rumor Spread From Pakistan Regarding CJP Protest? Several Social Media Handles On Police Radar

New Delhi: On the first day of the Parliament's monsoon session, severe violence and stone-pelting occurred during the 'Chalo Sansad' (March to Parliament) protest organized by the 'Cockroach Janata Party' (CJP) at Jantar Mantar. The Delhi Police now suspect a larger conspiracy behind these events. Investigators are examining links between the violence at the protest, the rumors spread on social media, and the neighboring country, Pakistan.

Taking a stern stance on the matter, the police have registered multiple FIRs and detained over 70 agitators so far.

False rumors of deaths spread via Pakistani handles?

Media reports, citing senior Delhi Police sources, indicate that investigators have discovered numerous suspicious social media posts and tweets originating from handlers based in Pakistan.

Police believe that a deliberate strategy was employed using these handles to incite the protesting students and youths at Jantar Mantar by spreading misleading figures and rumors.

A viral post on the social media platform X claimed that seven protesters had died during police action, while 391 people were injured and 250 arrested.

Furthermore, the same handle had previously claimed that eight Indian Army soldiers were killed in an attack in Kupwara, Jammu and Kashmir—a claim the Press Information Bureau (PIB) fact-checked and dismissed as fake.

The Delhi Police have now dismissed the claims regarding the CJP protest as completely fabricated and baseless. They are investigating which 'external force' might be behind the attempt to disrupt law and order in Delhi through these digital rumors.

Were over 50 Delhi Police personnel injured?

Security forces suffered significant casualties during the violent stone-pelting and attempts to breach barricades during the march to Parliament. More than 50 police personnel were injured in the violent clashes and have been admitted to nearby hospitals for treatment. More than 10 senior IPS and DANIPS officers, who were deployed to maintain law and order, were also injured after being caught in the stone-pelting. According to doctors, several injured police personnel are still undergoing treatment, meaning the casualty count could rise further.

Is Delhi Police Identifying Miscreants Through Digital Evidence?

The Special Commissioner (Law and Order) has clarified that the police are registering multiple cases based on various complaints. The Delhi Police is now relying heavily on digital evidence to track down the miscreants and the masterminds behind the violence.

Footage from all CCTV cameras installed around Jantar Mantar, Tolstoy Marg, and Sansad Marg is being scrutinized. The individuals involved in the stone-pelting are being identified with the help of mobile phone videos recorded by police personnel present at the scene, media channels, and the general public. 

Delhi Police sources have made it clear that if the investigation reveals any involvement by political parties or their leaders in inciting youth to violence or providing funding, the strictest possible legal action will be taken without any leniency.
