New Delhi: On September 23, the fourth day of the Asian Games 2026, India performed brilliantly in many sports. Two bronze medals were won in shooting, a medal was confirmed for the first time in soft tennis and the women's team defeated Iran in Kabaddi. Overall, the day was very good for India.
India got two bronze medals simultaneously in shooting. Firstly, in the men's skeet team event, the team of Anantjit Singh Naruka, Meraj Ahmed Khan and Bhavtegh Singh Gill won bronze by scoring 346 points. This was India's 9th medal in the Asian Games 2026. After that the women's skeet team also got bronze. The trio of Raiza Dhillon, Maheshwari Chauhan and Parinaaz Dhaliwal scored 331 in qualification and finished third. India shot consistently in both the events.
26 year old Jai Meena did what no Indian has been able to do to date. In the quarter-finals, he defeated Nuguet Sherwin of the Philippines 4-3 in a tough match and made it to the semi-finals. With this victory, India's first Asian Games medal in soft tennis was confirmed. For the first time in the history of Asian Games, India will bring a medal in this game, hence this victory is considered very big.
The women's Kabaddi team also did not disappoint. India defeated Iran 37-23 in the Group A match. The Indian team kept the attack sharp from the beginning and did not give Iran a chance to make a comeback. With this victory, the team's path to the semi-finals has almost been cleared.
A medal was expected from Manu Bhaker in the 10 meter air pistol women's final, but she stood 5th with 181.1 points. India also finished fourth in the women's team event and missed out on a medal. Manu had made it to the finals by finishing third in the qualification. However, Isha Singh and Suruchi Singh could not qualify.
Everyone's eyes were on Mirabai Chanu in weightlifting on the fourth day. She reached the finals of Women's 49 kg. Apart from this, Dnyaneshwari Yadav was going to enter the final of 53 kg category. In badminton, the semi-final of the Indian men's team was against China, which was considered very important. Apart from this, Indian players also competed in their respective competitions in hockey, rowing, swimming, table tennis and squash.
