Sports News: In the aftermath of India's disappointing performance in the recent Border-Gavaskar Trophy series, where they suffered a 1-3 defeat, and a historic 0-3 whitewash at home against New Zealand, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has taken decisive action. The BCCI is implementing stricter protocols for the Indian cricket team, aimed at enhancing discipline and team cohesion. These new measures, detailed in a 10-point directive accessed by Hindustan Times, include mandatory participation in domestic cricket, restrictions on family presence during tours, and a ban on personal endorsements during series.

Stricter Protocols for Team Discipline

The BCCI's new regulations come amid criticism that key players, particularly Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, neglected the Ranji Trophy, which some believe contributed to the team's recent batting struggles. To address this, the board has made it mandatory for players to participate in domestic matches to maintain eligibility for national selection and central contracts. Additionally, families will only be allowed to accompany players for a limited two-week period during overseas tours.

Travel and Endorsement Restrictions

In a bid to foster unity and focus within the team, the BCCI has prohibited players from making separate travel arrangements with their families. All players must travel with the team to matches and practice sessions. Furthermore, while players are required to participate in official BCCI promotional activities, they are barred from engaging in personal endorsements during tours. This rule is designed to minimize distractions and ensure that players concentrate on their cricketing responsibilities.

Disciplinary Measures for Non-Compliance

The BCCI has outlined strict consequences for those who fail to adhere to these new protocols. Any exceptions regarding personal staff or travel arrangements must receive prior approval from the board. Non-compliance could lead to severe sanctions, including bans from participating in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The board has emphasized that all exceptions must be approved by Ajit Agarkar and Gautam Gambhir, with disciplinary actions potentially affecting players' participation in all BCCI-sanctioned tournaments.

These sweeping changes reflect the BCCI's commitment to restoring professionalism within the Indian cricket team. By enforcing stricter guidelines, the board aims to cultivate a more disciplined environment that prioritizes performance on the field.
