Chandigarh: India crushed Afghanistan by an innings and 300 runs in the one-off Test match played at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium. After being bowled out for 152 runs in the first innings, Afghanistan was forced to follow on. The visiting team fared even worse in the second innings, collapsing for 112 runs. This marks India's biggest-ever Test victory. Several magnificent records were set during this historic win.
This is India's largest victory in Test matches in terms of the innings and runs margin. India defeated the opposition by an innings and 300 runs. Previously, India's biggest win had come against the West Indies in the 2018 Rajkot Test, where they triumphed by an innings and 272 runs.

Left-arm spinner Suthar claimed a total of 7 wickets in the match. He took 6 wickets in the first innings and one in the second. In the last 35 years, only two Indian bowlers have taken 6 wickets on their Test debut. Before Suthar, Ravichandran Ashwin had achieved the feat of taking a six-wicket haul for 47 runs on his debut. Additionally, Manav Suthar has become the 10th Indian bowler to claim a five-wicket haul on his Test debut. He also holds the record for the second-best bowling figures by an Indian in their maiden Test innings.
