Lucknow: India defeated Afghanistan by 170 runs in the second ODI match held at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Stadium in Lucknow. Batting first, India posted a massive total of 402 runs; in reply, the Afghan team was bowled out for just 232 runs. With this victory, India secured an unassailable 2-0 lead in the ODI series.

Both batsmen and bowlers played pivotal roles in India's win. Captain Shubman Gill was the top scorer with 154 runs, while Ishan Kishan played a blistering innings of 125 runs. Rohit Sharma also made a crucial contribution of 48 runs. The fast bowlers dominated the bowling attack; Arshdeep Singh and Gurnoor Brar claimed three wickets each. Prince Yadav took two wickets on his debut, while Sundar picked up one.

Was this India's One-Sided Victory?

Indian captain Shubman Gill lost the toss, and Afghanistan invited India to bat first. The Indian team got off to a poor start, with Yashasvi Jaiswal getting out for just 4 runs. However, Rohit Sharma and Captain Shubman Gill subsequently put Afghanistan on the back foot by sharing an excellent partnership. Both batsmen played freely, although Rohit Sharma missed his half-century by just two runs, scoring 48 off 39 balls.

What About the Ishan Kishan-Shubman Gill Storm?

After Rohit's dismissal, Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill batted aggressively, giving Afghanistan no chance to recover. The duo added 224 runs for the third wicket off 141 balls. Shubman Gill completed his century in 77 balls, while Ishan Kishan reached his hundred even faster, in just 71 balls. Ishan Kishan was dismissed for 125, after which Shubman Gill went on to complete 150 runs; he was eventually out for 154. The Indian innings faltered after Gill returned to the pavilion. How did India's Brilliant Bowling destroy Afghanistan batting?

After the Indian batsmen displayed their prowess, the bowlers also worked their magic. Gurnoor Brar secured the first breakthrough for India by dismissing Gurbaz for 41. Subsequently, Arshdeep Singh claimed the wicket of Ibrahim Zadran, while Washington Sundar sent Sediqullah Atal back to the pavilion. Prince Yadav bowled out Kharote to claim his maiden international wicket. Rahmat Shah was the top scorer for Afghanistan with 79 runs; he, too, was dismissed by Prince. Arshdeep and Gurnoor dismantled the Afghan middle order. The third ODI between Team India and Afghanistan is scheduled for June 20 in Chennai.
