New Delhi: T20 World Cup 2026 has now reached its final stage. The title match will be played between India and New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday. The match will be started at 7 pm. Both the teams are in full swing, and the entire nation is in tension – will Team India be able to defend the title? Or will the Kiwis lift the trophy for the first time?

Is India going to create history?

India has won two T20 World Cups so far, in 2007 and 2024. If India wins today, it will become the first team to defend the title, that too on home ground! These three records together – no team has been able to do this till now. There is pressure, but the team India looks ready.

Why is the Kiwi team looking so dangerous?

Finn Allen scored 289 runs in the tournament, Tim Seifert scored 274 – more than both the Indian batsmen. Allen's 20 sixes are the highest, with a strike rate 203. He made two century partnerships for the first wicket. Mitchell Santner's bowling economy is 6.33, which is better than any Indian's. Kiwis make a quiet noise in big matches.

Which battles can change the match today?

  • Finn Allen vs. Jasprit Bumrah: Allen makes a strong start in the powerplay and will have to be stopped by Bumrah's yorkers and slowers. Till now Bumrah has bowled only 5 balls, Allen was not out.
  • Tim Seifert vs. Arshdeep Singh: Seifert hits fast runs, Arshdeep's swing balls trouble him. Arshdeep was out twice in 17 balls, but Seifert scored 37 runs at a strike rate of .217.
  • Sanju Samson vs. Matt Henry: Sanju does wonders under pressure, but Henry got out 2 times out of 3, giving only 15 runs in 10 balls.

How will the pitch be today?

Number-6 pitch is the combination of red-black soil. Good bounce, the ball will hit the bat well – stroke players will be happy. Not much help to the spinners. The pitch is fresh, only one match has been played here. Full expectation of a high-scoring match—170 can be easily scored, maybe 180-200.

What is the weather scene?

Heat up to 41 degrees during the day but will drop to 23 degrees in the evening. No sign of rain – the entire match will go on without interruption.

  • In the last 6 T20s, India won 5 and New Zealand won 1.
