New Delhi: India won the Women's ODI World Cup for the first time by defeating South Africa by 52 runs. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur described one over of Shefali Verma as the turning point of the match. India registered a historic win with Deepti Sharma's five wickets and Shefali's all-round performance.

How did India build a solid foundation with the bat?

Batting first, India scored a strong score of 298 runs. Shefali Verma played an inning of 87 runs and laid the foundation of the match with her batting. Deepti Sharma also played an important partnership by scoring 58 runs. Together, both of them gave the team the lead, which kept the pressure on South Africa continuously.

What do Indian teams excel in?

Deepti Sharma also did wonders with the ball and broke the back of the opposing team by taking 5 wickets. Shefali took 2 wickets and fully lived up to the trust of the captain. South African captain Laura Woolwardt scored 101 runs, but as soon as she was out, the match completely tilted towards India. The entire team was bundled out for 246 runs, and India registered a historic win by 52 runs.

Who turned the whole scenario?

After the match, Harmanpreet Kaur said that when Laura and Sune were batting, she decided to give bowling to Shefali. He said, "When I saw Shefali in the field, I felt that today something would be different. I decided to give her an over, and that moment became the turning point for us."

What were the traits of the team that made them win?

Harman said that Shefali's confidence became an inspiration for the entire team. "When we told her that she might have to bowl if needed, she without hesitation said that if I get a chance, I will bowl ten overs. It was this confidence that helped us win the final."

Whom they dedicate victory?

Captain Harmanpreet dedicated this victory to the team, support staff, and fans. He said, "In the last two years, Amol sir always taught us to do something different, bring something special. The BCCI and the support staff showed faith in us. The fans supported us in every victory and defeat. This victory is in his name."

Are the challenges over now?

Harmanpreet said, "We wanted to break this wall, and now we have done that. But this is not the end, just the beginning. We want this win to become a habit, and India should perform like this in every tournament in the future."
