New Delhi: The first Qualifier of IPL 2022 was being played at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The Rajasthan Royals were up against the Gujarat Titans. Gujarat needed 16 runs for victory in the final over. Prasidh Krishna stepped up to bowl the last over for Rajasthan. David Miller, who was batting on 50 runs off 35 balls, was on strike. Miller smashed three consecutive sixes off Prasidh's first, second, and third deliveries. He secured victory for his team with three balls to spare in the match.
Four years later, in the final over of an IPL 2026 match, David Miller and Prasidh Krishna faced off once again. This time, Miller came on strike for the fourth delivery. He was playing for the Delhi Capitals, while Prasidh was part of the Gujarat Titans squad. Delhi required 8 runs for victory off the last three balls. Miller launched a massive 106-meter six off the fourth ball.
Following that, the Delhi Capitals needed just two runs off the final two balls to win at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. The team's victory appeared all but certain. On the fifth ball, Miller had an opportunity to take a single, but he turned down Kuldeep Yadav at the non-striker's end. Prasidh delivered a slower ball for the final delivery. Miller was beaten by the pace, and in the ensuing scramble to take a run, Kuldeep Yadav was run out. Consequently, the Delhi team lost the match by a margin of one run.
While David Miller came out on top in one match and Prasidh Krishna in the other, the Gujarat Titans emerged as the winners on both occasions. Gujarat has won several nail-biting matches in the IPL. In 2022 alone, when the team needed 12 runs off the final two balls to beat Punjab, Rahul Tewatia smashed two sixes to seal the victory for his side. Gujarat went on to win the championship title that very season.
