T20 World Cup winner Irfan Pathan slams Pakistan after humiliating Asia Cup defeat against dominant India

Sports News:  India defeated Pakistan by seven wickets in the Group A match of Asia Cup 2025 on 14 September (Sunday) and made it to the top 4 of the tournament. The controversy over the players not shaking hands before the match may have created a buzz, but the performance of the Indian team on the field was excellent in every sense. Pakistan's team could score only 128 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, while India achieved the target comfortably with 25 balls to spare. This victory once again proved that the Indian team is adept at turning pressure into opportunity on the big stage. 

Irfan Pathan gave a strong reaction regarding Pakistan

After this big win of India, former Indian fast bowler Irfan Pathan strongly criticized the Pakistan team. He said that many domestic teams of India also have the ability to defeat Pakistan. He specifically named the domestic teams of Mumbai and Punjab and said that both these teams can defeat Pakistan. Pathan even said that many franchise teams of Indian Premier League (IPL) can also win the match against Pakistan at the international level. 

Irfan said that if you ask me which Indian domestic team is capable of defeating Pakistan, I would say Mumbai can definitely do it, Punjab can also do it and as far as IPL teams are concerned, many teams can beat Pakistan. 

Indian bowlers uprooted the roots of Pakistan

In this match, Pakistan won the toss and decided to bat first, but the Indian bowlers put pressure on the opposition batsmen from the very beginning. Especially the trio of spin bowlers Kuldeep Yadav, Akshar Patel and Varun Chakraborty did not give any chance to the Pakistani batsmen to score runs. 

Kuldeep Yadav took 3 wickets for just 18 runs, while Akshar and Varun also bowled economically and took wickets at crucial moments. If Shaheen Afridi had not hit some big shots in the last overs, Pakistan's score would not have reached even 120 runs. Ultimately the entire Pakistani team could score only 128 runs after losing 9 wickets in 20 overs. 

Suryakumar and Abhishek gave an easy victory

Chasing a modest target of 128 runs, India adopted an aggressive approach from the start. Opener Abhishek Sharma gave the team a strong start by playing a quick innings of 31 runs. After this, Suryakumar Yadav and the captain put the match in India's bag by making a half-century partnership for the third wicket. Suryakumar not only handled the innings, but also scored fast runs, while the captain played an unbeaten innings of 47 runs and led the team to victory with 25 balls remaining.
