Jason Holder played a key role in helping the West Indies pull off a thrilling 2-wicket win against Pakistan in the second T20I on Saturday at Lauderhill. This win helped level the series at 1-1. Holder’s performance stood out not just with the ball but also under pressure with the bat. He also reached a major career milestone, going past Dwayne Bravo to become the leading wicket-taker for the West Indies in men’s T20 internationals.
Holder was named 'Player of the Match' for his superb bowling figures of 4 for 19 and a steady 16 not out from 10 balls. His innings ended with a boundary off the final ball, giving West Indies a dramatic win. While chasing 134, West Indies kept losing wickets and were 98 for 7 by the 17th over. However, Holder kept calm during the final moments of the match. With eight runs needed from the last six balls and two required off the final delivery, Shaheen Afridi bowled the last ball, but Holder managed to hit it to the boundary, securing victory for his team.
Mohammad Nawaz was the best bowler for Pakistan, taking 3 wickets for 14 runs in his four overs. He made it tough for the West Indian batters. Earlier in the game, Pakistan had won the toss and decided to bat first. But their innings didn’t go smoothly. Wickets kept falling, and at 53/4 after 9.2 overs, they were in trouble. Young batter Hasan Nawaz gave some hope with a fast 40 off 23 balls, which included four big sixes and a boundary. Even so, Pakistan managed to score only 133 runs for 9 wickets in their 20 overs.
Holder was excellent with the ball, helping West Indies keep Pakistan to a low total. His performance with both bat and ball was the key to the team's win in the end. With the series now tied, both teams will be looking to win the final match on Monday.
