The Punjab government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, has swung into action to deal with the flood situation in the state. A relief fund of Rs 2 crore has been released, and eight cabinet ministers have been deployed to the affected areas to oversee operations. The government has also ordered a special 'girdawari' (crop damage survey) to assess the losses, making it clear that the response is not limited to announcements but focused on ground-level support for people in distress.

Preparedness and Infrastructure Paying Off

In the past three years, an infrastructure worth ₹276 crore was built for flood prevention, and its impact is now visible. These plans are not just on paper anymore but are proving successful in protecting people during this crisis. This indicates that the Mann government has not restricted disaster management to mere relief measures but has also prioritised prevention and preparedness.

Ministers in the Field, Direct Public Interaction

In Tarn Taran and Ferozepur, Water Resources Minister Barinder Kumar Goyal and Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar personally reached the Dhussi embankment along the Sutlej River. They visited villages, listened to people’s problems, provided them with immediate relief, and assured them that the government stands firmly with them. Likewise, Hardeep Singh Mundian visited Sultanpur Lodhi, whereas Dr Balbir Singh reviewed relief efforts in a meeting with Kapurthala’s administration.

Humanitarian Approach, Not Just Administrative

The Mann government’s response is not limited to administration—it reflects a humanitarian approach. When heavy rains triggered floods, the government did not remain distant; it stood shoulder to shoulder with the people. This is not an administration that seeks publicity by distributing aid before cameras, but one that quietly works on the ground to provide real relief. That is the defining difference between this government and others.

While the opposition is occupied with making statements, the Mann government has demonstrated that true public service lies in action, not slogans. For Punjab’s citizens, the support offered during the floods is more than immediate relief it is the rebuilding of trust. This is not about politics; it is a genuine example of compassionate leadership. At a time when many governments seem detached from the people, the Mann administration has once again secured a place in their hearts. It is for this reason that the people of Punjab say with pride: having such a government is an honor.
