New Zealand whitewashes India in Test series: In a historic feat, New Zealand, led by Tom Latham, clinched a 3-0 series whitewash against India with a thrilling 25-run victory in the third Test. The win at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium marked the first time India has ever been whitewashed in a three-match home Test series, leaving fans stunned.

New Zealand’s historic win

The Black Caps dominated India throughout the series, and their decisive win in the final match cemented a milestone achievement. Left-arm spinner Ajaz Patel was instrumental in this victory, showcasing his skill on Day 3 by taking six critical wickets. Chasing a modest target of 147, India stumbled and was bowled out for a mere 121 runs, thanks largely to Patel’s brilliant 6/57 in just 14.1 overs.

Ajaz Patel's spin mastery dismantles India’s batting line-up

India started the final day strong, with Ravindra Jadeja removing New Zealand’s tailender, Patel, early in the morning session to end their innings at 174 runs. Despite the manageable target, India’s batting lineup collapsed under pressure. Patel’s early dismissals of Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli in consecutive overs shook the Indian chase, leaving them reeling at 18/3 in just six overs.

Rishabh Pant’s lone stand not enough

Wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant put up a valiant fight with a well-made 64, but his efforts fell short. With the top order failing, Sarfaraz Khan’s struggles against spin continued as he attempted a slog sweep against Patel, only to be dismissed for 1. India’s hopes dimmed as they lost half their side for a mere 29 runs. Pant, alongside Jadeja, managed a 42-run stand, but the partnership ended when Patel dismissed Jadeja, firmly putting New Zealand back in control.

With this victory, New Zealand not only secured a historic series win but also exposed gaps in India’s middle order, leaving fans to ponder the way forward for the Indian team.
