Sports News: India's former cricketer and head coach Anil Kumble has advised the Indian management to persist with Nitish Kumar Reddy. Gambhir, who is the head coach of the Indian team, was given the suggestion by Kumble after Reddy's bowling spell, in which he accounted for two quick wickets in the same over. The batting all-rounder was picked for the England series after a great performance with the bat down under earlier this year. Kumble's suggestion to Gambhir and Co

“I thought he did quite well in Australia—got a hundred with the bat and bowled decently even if he didn’t take many wickets. What you need from someone like him is to break partnerships and give the fast bowlers a breather while still maintaining control. He bowled nearly 14 overs in a spell—that shows fitness and control. He’s young, he’s a capable batter with a century under his belt, and he’s a sharp fielder. India should persist with him and avoid the temptation to chop and change," Kumble said on match center live.

Kumble praises Reddy

Kumble said that he was surprised to see Nitish bowl so well. "I was surprised at how well Nitish Kumar Reddy bowled. He consistently hit the right areas. That short ball down the leg side was a gift, but otherwise, he was disciplined. His delivery to Zak Crawley was a beauty," said Kumble on Match Center Live with Jio Hotstar.

Reddy's quick scalps

Reddy came in to bowl the 14th over after the England openers had together added 43 for the first wicket partnership. Ben Duckett was stranded down the leg side; poor shot-making led to his downfall. What followed next was a ripper! Reddy opened up a crawl on the last ball of his first over. The batter edged the ball to the keeper, and Reddy brought India back in the game with two in an over.
