New Delhi: Former Indian team captain Rohit Sharma is in the news these days not only for his batting but also because of the amazing changes he is making in fitness. Rohit, who was once trolled for his weight, has now completely changed himself. According to reports, he has lost around 10–11 kg in the last few months and has done all this keeping the target of the 2027 ODI World Cup in mind.

What did Rohit Sharma say?

When the victory was celebrated in the team hotel after the match, a light moment there went viral on social media. A cake-cutting ceremony was organized for the team, Yashasvi Jaiswal was called to cut the cake and he picked up the piece and offered it to Virat Kohli and then to Rohit. Kohli ate the cake, but Rohit flatly refused with a smile. He laughed and said, “No brother, I will get fat again.” The players and staff present there laughed out loud after hearing his words.

How was the performance in the South Africa match?

This transformation of Rohit is the result of rigorous training done in Mumbai, where he kept practicing and fitness sessions for long hours under the supervision of former cricketer and coach Abhishek Nair. From diet to workout, everything went according to plan. While sharing Rohit's new pictures on social media, Nair had written, "10,000 gram letter, we keep pushing," which clearly showed how much hard work Rohit has done on himself.

Two half-centuries in the series, Rohit again showed class

Rohit's performance in this three-match series was very reliable.

  • In first ODI: 57 runs
  • In the second: 14 runs
  • In the third: 75 runs

By scoring half-centuries in two matches, Rohit proved that he is still the lynchpin of India's ODI batting and wants to use his experience and fitness in big tournaments by 2027. The effect of this hard work was visible on the field also. In the first comeback series against Australia, Rohit also scored runs and showed new agility. After this, he played a brilliant inning of 75 runs in the decisive third ODI played against South Africa in Visakhapatnam. With this innings he also crossed the big mark of 20,000 runs in international cricket and India won the series 2–1.

What is Rohit's motive?

Rohit's motive is now clear: he wants to play for the Indian team for years to come, especially till the 2027 ODI World Cup. For this, he worked on himself, lost weight, responded by scoring runs and now by keeping control in the celebration, he showed that he is not just a “Hitman” but also a very alert professional. His efforts are also a message for young players that if they want to remain at the top level, they will have to pay equal attention to fitness along with talent.
