New Delhi: India and Namibia are scheduled to play in New Delhi on Thursday in the T20 World Cup. However, Team India's troubles are showing no signs of abating ahead of this match. There were already concerns about the fitness of some players, and now a new injury has added to the team management's worries. According to reports, Ishan Kishan injured his left toe during a practice session in Delhi a day before the match.

How did Jasprit Bumrah injure Ishan Kishan?

According to reports, a fast yorker from Jasprit Bumrah struck Ishan Kishan's toe in the nets, leaving him groaning in pain. The left-handed batsman was seen in considerable pain and had to stop practice for a while. It's currently unclear whether Kishan will be able to play in the match against Namibia, but this is certainly considered a major setback for the team.

Abhishek played the first match against the USA despite being unwell, but was dismissed on the second ball and did not enter the field during fielding. He subsequently missed a training session. If he is not fully fit, it could impact the team combination.

Impact on the top and middle order?

If both Ishan Kishan and Abhishek Sharma are not fully fit, the team management may have to make changes to the playing XI. Sanju Samson is available as an option, while there is also talk of trying Washington Sundar as an opener. Given the high-voltage match against Pakistan on February 15th, the team will want to avoid risking any player.

Ishan Kishan's injury is significant because he provides both wicketkeeping and aggressive batting options. If his thumb is seriously affected, changes may be required in both the wicketkeeping and batting departments.

Team India began its World Cup campaign with a match against the United States. Team India won that match, but apart from Surya, no other batsman could make an impact. Therefore, the match against Namibia before the match against Pakistan is considered very important.
