New Delhi: The 32nd match of IPL 2026 was played between LSG vs RR at Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. Vaibhav Suryavanshi was out after scoring 8 runs in just 11 balls off the bowling of Mohsin Khan—the leading edge tried to play a big shot, and Digvesh Rathi ran about 20 meters and took a brilliant catch.

But even in these short innings, Vaibhav wrote history. By hitting Prince Yadav for a four on the second ball of the second over, he made the record of completing 500 runs in the fewest number of balls in IPL history. Glenn Maxwell had achieved this milestone in 260 balls, while Vaibhav reached this milestone in just 222 balls.

Whom did Vaibhav leave behind in terms of age also?

At the age of just 15 years and 27 days, Vaibhav completed 500 runs in IPL. By making this record his name, he left behind Prithvi Shaw, who had achieved this feat at the age of 19 years and 164 days. At number three is Sanju Samson who completed 500 runs at the age of 19 years and 195 days. That means Vaibhav left both these giants behind in terms of age by a difference of about four years.

What do the accounts of this season say?

Vaibhav Suryavanshi is the highest run-scorer of Rajasthan Royals this season. Till now 254 runs have come from his bat. He has also scored two half-centuries this season, both off just 15 balls, which are the third fastest half-centuries in IPL history.

How did Vaibhav's journey reach here?

This promising player from Bihar made his Ranji Trophy debut in 2024 at the age of just 12, which was the record for the second youngest debut from Bihar. In IPL 2025, Rajasthan Royals bought him for Rs 1.1 crore and he became the youngest centurion in men's T20 cricket by scoring a century in just 38 balls against Gujarat Titans. After this, in early 2026, he played a key role in India U19 winning the World Cup; he played an explosive innings of 175 runs in 80 balls against England U19 in the final and was the best player of the tournament.

Why is Vaibhav's simplicity off the field going viral?

No matter how much storm is created inside the field or outside the field's splendor, an innocent child is still visible. In the interview, when he was asked the secret of his fearless batting, he told, in a very simple manner, that he watches cartoons before the match because this is his habit. As soon as you enter the field, you just focus on the ball, there is no big burden on your mind. After this, when he spoke in his typical Bhojpuri style—that the team's aim is to take two points in every match—the fans were left heartbroken.

Can the doors of Team India open soon?

The kind of maturity, aggression and mental strength that Vaibhav is showing at the age of 15, cricket experts believe that this path leads directly to Team India. Storm on the field and simplicity off the field—this combination is seen in very few players. If this form continues, Vaibhav Suryavanshi's name will soon be included in the list of big stars of Indian cricket and maybe he won't even stop watching cartoons!
