New Delhi: Senior female wrestler Vinesh Phogat is set to make a comeback to the mat once again. She had returned from retirement just last year. She is now preparing to participate in the National Open Ranking Wrestling Tournament being held in Gonda. Vinesh, who is returning to wrestling after a hiatus of approximately 18 months, has released a video message. In this video, she has leveled serious allegations against former WFI chief Brij Bhushan Singh. Furthermore, she has expressed apprehensions regarding potential bias in the tournament currently being organized in Gonda.

Why is Vinesh Phogat scared to make comeback?

Expressing concern over potential untoward incidents during the National Open Ranking Wrestling Tournament, Vinesh Phogat has held the Government of India responsible. She stated that if any unfortunate incident were to befall her or her team, the government would be held accountable. Additionally, she has alleged that the tournament being hosted in Gonda may be under the influence of former WFI chief Brij Bhushan Singh and his close associates.

Vinesh remarked, "If any untoward incident occurs involving me, my team, or my fans during the competition, the Government of India will be held responsible. This tournament is being organized in a location where he (Brij Bhushan Singh) wields significant influence. Who serves as the referee in a match, how many points are awarded, who acts as the Mat Chairman—everything is under his and his associates' control." She further added, "I do not seek any form of privilege or special treatment. All I desire is that the results reflect the actual performance."

Wy Were Serious Allegations Leveled Against Brij Bhushan Singh?

Vinesh Phogat is among the primary complainants in the sexual harassment case filed against Brij Bhushan Singh. She stated that competing in a venue where the majority of the people may be affiliated with the accused is an extremely stressful experience for her. Citing the Supreme Court's guidelines regarding the protection of victims' identities and dignity, Vinesh explained that the prevailing circumstances compelled her to speak out publicly. She said, "I am one of the six female wrestlers who have filed a complaint." Notably, Vinesh is set to compete in the women's 57 kg weight category in Gonda. Prior to this, she has competed in the 50 kg and 53 kg categories.
